Susan Herrmann
Board Member
Susan Herrmann (RN, BSc, MSc, PhD) recently retired after a 25-year career in clinical research which commenced in the 1990s at the advent of HIV antiretroviral treatment. Closely working with patients, her research explored challenges associated with stigma, treatment, hepatitis co-infection, aging with chronic infection, and the complexity of managing HIV when living in remote regions, including with visa constraints.
Later, she worked with a UWA research team based in the Harry Perkins Institute. With this group she designed and implemented several clinical trials, and the findings of these studies have been published in the scientific literature.
Using her experience, Susan hopes to serve the WAAC Board and promote equitable, efficient, and compassionate delivery of health care to the diverse Western Australian community.
